Zlatan Ibrahimovic obtained his dream move to PSG
Paris Saint-Germain continues to land star after star, copying Premier League`s Manchester City example in their hope to win their first Ligue 1 title since 1994. Their latest transfer is Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Italy`s top scorer last season with 28 goals.
A.C. Milan decided to let their striker go for a transfer fee of €20 million, even though they initially sign Ibrahimovic until 2015. He will spend three years in Paris, in which he hopes to make history:
“I want to thank PSG because they made something impossible possible. It’s a big step in my career. Another dream come true. This is a very interesting project. I had no doubts about it when Paris contacted my manager. Everything was clear in my head. I want to be part of this history. I’m sure we’ll write this history. I’m here for winning.”
Ibrahimovic will join a team pack full of stars, including Brazilian Thiago Silva, who was Zlatan`s teammate at AC Milan. Silva joined the French club on Saturday. The Swedish will be joined in the attacking part of the team by two Argentine players: Javier Pastore, who was secured by PSG last summer, and Ezequiel Lavezzi, who joined the team last month for a €30 million fee from Napoli.
“He will add big value for PSG and for the French league. We’ll be more competitive in the Champions League as well. A lot of media were asking us why we hadn’t yet got a superstar. Now, we have one. It will be a very exciting season,” – said Nasser al-Khelaifi, president of Paris Saint-Germain.
Ibrahimovic left Seria A for Ligue 1, even if he does not know very much about the last one, but he says that he believes in PSG`s project:
“I think nobody in Milan influenced me. This is my decision. It’s a new chapter in my life. Maybe this will be my final contract but who knows. It’s true I don’t know that much about Ligue 1 but Ligue 1 knows who I am. It’s like a dream team. I’m going to play with some of the best players of the world. I believe in this project.”
Who will replace the Ibra at Milan remains a mystery, as chief executive Adriano Galliani said that there is time to revise all the options: “Dzeko or Tevez? There’s time to do so until 31 August.”
